White Feces

White Feces is one of the most common syndrome in shrimp culture now a days.  It is observed initially in the low salinity ponds and it is quite common disease now.  Studies understand that high feeding rate increasing organic matter levels in the pond which is one of the causes.  Besides poor pond management and irregular application of probiotics.  It can be observed in trays and on the surface of water floating.  Vibrio species found in the feces are mimicus, parahaemolyticus, fluvialis, alginolyticus etc.,  During the infection, mid gut is filled with white to golden yellow contents.  It may result growth reduction, loose shell and mortality of aquatic animal.  It is mostly observed after 50 to 60 days of stocking.  Peak mortalities happen during poor DO levels and low alkalinity levels.

Identified causes for white feces syndrome are high density stocking, poor water quality, polluted pond bottom, bad feed management, high plankton blooms etc.,  Frequent checkup of DO levels, cleaning the pond bottom, checking of bacterial loads and maintaining water quality are the best management practices for White Feces Syndrome.  BOON is the best solution for keeping the pond bottom clean which will biodegrades the sludge and unwanted bacteria in the pond bottom with the application of 50 grams per acre for every 15 days.  Multipro PS+ helps to maintain the water quality in the pond with out exchange of water in regular intervals when the water for exchange is not available and becomes expensive.  Multipro PS+ should be applied for every 15 days during sunny time in the pond with pond water which works on both water and soil.  Bacterial loads in the ponds shall be controlled with the application of Provirus which is the power probiotic solution for Vibrios and Virus in the pond.  Application of Protect in feed improves immune power in the animal body, besides selected probiotics in the Protect will protect the body from many vibrios, virus and pathogens and selected elements in the protect help in growth including spirulina which makes it the best probiotic growth promoter.
