Muddy Pond Water
Muddy pond water could be because of result of Physical, Environmental, Biological factors or because of suspended clay particles. sunlight cannot be penetrated through it and Growth of plankton is reduced in muddy water and growth of aquatic animal. RandAqua 8886555529.
Salinity
Salinity of water refers to the amount of sodium chloride, and other components such as magnesium salts, calcium salts, potassium sulfate and bicarbonate salts. When salinity is higher than 35, it will darken the color of water. High salinity also makes it difficult to adjust water color in shrimp pond. n high-salinity water, you can help the shrimp by feeding them with lots of protein and highly unsaturated fatty acids. Some anti-stress nutrients like vitamin C and astaxanthin will also help. RandAqua 8886555529.
Low DO
Low Dissolved Oxygen in pond water may be because of: Cloudy weather for long time, High temperatures, Unusual weather, Over stocking, Decomposition of organic matters, Excessive turbidity, Excessive plankton and weed. RandAqua 8886555529.
Copper Sulfate
Copper sulfate can be used in aquaculture ponds to get rid of algae. Measure total alkalinity of water before application as it can decrease oxygen levels in water. It should be diluted in water before application. RandAqua 8886555529.
Macrophytes
Macrophytes such as pondweed and milfoil compete with plankton for nutrients, provide shelter for undesirable animals, contribute to oxygen depletion and high ammonia levels when they decompose. RandAqua 8886555529.
Salt
Salt is the generic mineral component of water which plays an important physiological function in aquatic animal. Salt effectively removes external parasites and enhances mucus production. RandAqua 8886555529.
Vibriosis
Vibriosis in aquaculture are: V. harveyi, V. parahaemolyticus, V. alginolyticus, V. anguillarum, V. vulnificus, and V. splendidus are usually associated with shrimp diseases. V. harveyi, V. anguillarum, V. salmonicida. Vibriosis leads to mass mortality. RandAqua 8886555529.
pH
The best pH content in ponds is from 7.8 to 8.5. pH fluctuation during a day should not exceed 0.5. If pH
changes significantly, it can make animal shocked, weakened and stop eating. If high or low pH extends
for a long time, it will make shrimp grow slowly, stunting and susceptible to diseases. RandAqua 8886555529.
Alkalinity
Alkalinity refers to the total amount of bases in water. A base is a substance that releases hydroxyl ions when dissolved in water. Hardness is the concentration of metal ions in pond water. Alkalinity and hardness values are normally similar to magnitude because calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, and carbonate ions in water are derived in equivalent quantities from the solution of limestone in geological deposits. Application of Limes
Common mistake that farmers do is application of different limes without knowing the correct identity and the amount to be applied. Types of limes used in aquaculture are: Agricultural Lime, Dolomite, Calcium Oxide, Calcium Hydroxide, Calcite and Sea shell. RandAqua 8886555529.
